An Irish Blessing to everyone for St. Patrick's Day

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.


This is an old, popular Irish blessing that has been used on various occasions, weddings, funerals, holidays...Irish Americans are the biggest ethnic group in Massachusetts. Every year they celebrate St. Patrick's Day in honor of the patron saint of the Irish. St. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland and, according to legend, drove the snakes out of Ireland.
