Shang ye!
I want to be your friend
For ever and ever without break and decay
When the hills are flat
And the rivers are all dry
When it lightens and thunders in winter
When it rains and snows in summer
When Heaven and Earth mingle-
Not till then will i part from you!

Dear Hy00, are you able to read the Chinese in my last posting? I cannot read it myself. I’m now testing my system and some software. If you also cannot read it, would you mind deleting my posting(s)? Thank you very much, as always! By the way, I guess you knew the Chinese poem very well.
Meanwhile, how is your broken arm, and leg? Are you still pain? If so, we can't take it anymore! Please get well soon? Please! Hope this famous Chinese poem can plan the seeds of wellness. Take good care, :- )

No, I can't read your first two tests, but at last, you got it! As for the broken arm or leg, that was simply an April Fool's hoax posted by somebody else. I'm okay. Thanks for your greetings!
Hy00

A trial guessing ( or matching)

很久前读过古词一首,大意是:
...
天地崩
方乃与君绝
(无乃与君绝?)
与西方的 till death do us part 大致相当。
呜呼哀哉!世人一谈到情便不肯面对真理。咱的信条是
见事不好
拔腿就跑
(my apology to all the gentlemen with faith and principles)

Thank you so much! Try again, with new software. My friend told me: I'll never give up.

I was very much tempted to post the original Chinese poem, which I love a lot, as a follow-up to the wonderful English translation you kindly provided. But I was not sure what your test posting was for and it seemed to be ready for deletion at any time. So... Anyway, now, with Netscape, I can read only the Chinese characters in this posting but not the one before ("I'll never give up."), whereas only with IE, was I able to understand laoba's response (I mean, was I able to read 今夜的月色真美. )
BTW, I suppose "Shang ye" should also be the first line of the poem, in addition to its title (must be assigned by later people)? And, I don't quite understand the English translator in that she(?) uses the words "friendship" and "friend". Everybody knows the poem is about love. 相知 in this context, I suppose, is at least "to be soulmate", isn't it? Haha, anyway, I'm actually arguing with an absent person. Forget about it. Thank you very much for both versions of the poem!

要做知己,先做朋友;没有友谊,哪来爱恋?!今夜的月色更美!He Zi, thank you!/

Hence, "friendship" here makes fully sense, especially if we take into consideration that Eastern people tend to express their love implicitly rather than explicitly (for example, using 友 instead of 爱 to call their beloved). Thank you very much, "old friend"! :-)
