I like to take this opportunity to say a few words that some people may
not like to hear, but I will say it anyway.
There have been many instances where a propsective job applicant approached
this board for help in translating a letter of application or
a c.v. . In this case, e.g., the person who requested a translation
of his/her c.v. gave no indication that he/she
is fluent in English. Since he/she needed a c.v. in English, I guess I may
assumed that the job being sought required some form of competence in
English.
What is the point of having a well written c.v. in English when , during
an interview, you are unable to communicate adequately in English?
The interviewer would realized immediately that your application letter
and/or your c.v. were not your own work. This will cast a very long
shadow on your integrity. If I were the interviewer, I would pass you
by and go right on to the next applicant. Thus , the whole exercise
of having someone else write a nice application letter and/or c.v.
for you is counterproductive. If you try to do it yourself, and then have
someone else to remove some of the most glaring errors, the letter or cv will still look
like your work. The interviewer would take into consideration that you
are not a native speaker and would accept the work at its face value.
One of the cardinal sins of an interview is to have the show not fit the bill. Once
the interviewer smells a rat, your chance of getting the job goes straight
down the drain !

You are right. Helping a candidate cheat his potential employer with that translation is unfair to the more competent candidates.
