请问“上方宝剑”怎么翻成英文？

我知道，《汉英词典》给的译文是“the imperial sword (a symbol of high authority, investing the bearer with discretionary power) 总觉得太罗嗦，有没有其它译法？

假如你翻的是中国古典作品，里面提到了“尚方宝剑”，那你还
只能就那么翻，然后在后面加个脚注，把括号中内容放脚注里头。
就凑合着用吧！
但是，假如这词是在现代场合用于比喻得到上级的充分授权，那
我建议你用“carte blanche”或“cheque blanche”或“blank
cheque”，都是充分授权的意思，非常接近现代中文口语中常用
的“尚方宝剑”。
