Let's put our heads together and work on it.
Let's go into a huddle into this/They huddled to talk matters over.

"huddle" is a very good word!

This is what I heard at a meeting when a UK representative said "EU countries need to have a huddle before we come back with a common position." Here "to have a huddle" just means "to get together and compare notes."

Just to TOUCHBASE 一下, a possible alternative

I've also often heard people say "touchbase" when something similar to "碰一下头" or “联络联络” is meant. I've picked it up and used it sometimes, though not quite sure of its origin. Could anyone dissect it, please?
E.g.
I'll spend a few minutes just to touchbase with you about the workshop schedule.
