Logistics has been a very important mean to reduce cost and improve customer service in most western company, many have dedicated "logistics department", however I can not find a proper chinese word to address it! Thanks for your help in advance!

‘后勤’是军事学上的术语，用于民间机构嫌它火药味重些，称之为‘供应部’，‘物资供应部’，或‘人力物资供应部’总可以吧？

LOGISTICS 在较早一点的字典中只注出军事上的意义－后勤。现在非军事领域
用它也很多，基本上有两类含义：物资管理和事务安排/方案实施。物资管理继承了后勤的意义，公司中的 DEPARTMENT OF LOGISTICS 就是管理物资的采购、仓储、运输、分发等，多半属于 Back-end system，与“后”字仍然沾边，称为“后勤部”倒也无不可。国内
的企事业单位不是也讲“后勤工作”吗？不喜欢军事色彩的公司可
以考虑“采购部“、“物料部”、“物资部”、“供应部”一类。
上面说了，LOGISTICS 现在已经引申到未必与物资有关的方面，即
事务管理、计划实施一类。下面一些用例，若译成“后勤”会颇令
人摸不着头脑或误解：
1-Some plans also offer two phones on a single plan -- an option that can be invaluable for a husband and wife coordinating the LOGISTICS of getting kids to soccer, ballet and karate practice on those exhausting weekends.
(这里的LOGISTICS可译成“安排”或“罗嗦事”)
2-(本例中的deal指竞选中的一项交易方案)
But there are also LOGISTICAL problems that could prevent the deal from happening.
(所举问题都是政治考虑，均与物资无关。这里可译为“实施上的问题”)
3-Once we got the logistics of the trip straitened out, we had smooth sailing.
(“旅行的细节安排停当”)
字典对这一义项的释义是：the planning,implementation, and coordination of the details of any operation. (Random House 1991)
即使在“后勤”义项下，LOGISTICAL 也不一定总译成“后勤”：
Our hospital used to have the ability to store LOGISTICAL material (for earthquakes): tents, heaters and blankets. All that's gone,

However I have not seen a proper corresponding Chinese words for "logistics".
I am studying Logistics, and gonna work in China as a logistican for a foreign company.
Here logistics as a major, subject, profession, it covers quite wide range, including sourcing, purchasing, storage, warehousing, inventory controling, materials handling and packaging, inbound and outbound transportation, order processing, distribution, customer services.
It's a new way to manage and exame a business or manufacture. On the contray to the traditional functional(vertical) organization, logistics works from the process(horziontal) view, trying to consolidate all processes to achieve short lead-time (time from customer order to order fulfillment), improve customer services.
Logistics includes not only goods flow, but also information flow as a very important part, even sometimes cash flow, financial flow.
"物流" is a good word to adress "logistics", however for some situation it does not fit so well. Because "goods flow" is only a part (but most basic, initial part) among all, which includs raw material flow, parts flow, semi-finished product flow, finished product flow, order information flow.
I am wondering if Hong Kong or Taiwan or Singapore or any other Chinese community already had a better Chinese translation to the extened new "logistics" concept.
Even "logistican" would be much more mattered word to adress in Chinese.
Hope more ideas come up! Thanks for your help!

我看您这专业的业务范围也真够广泛；作为一门学科的名称，是否可以叫做“统筹学”或“总务学”？作为工商企业机构的部门，就叫“统筹部”或“总务部”行吗？至于您的职称，那就该是“统筹师”或“总务部长”了。相信下面会有更好的建议。

Hou(4) Qin(2) is Logistics. Yes, years ago only military is concerned by utilization of it. However, with the globalization of today's economy, many industries start to realize the benifit of the practice.
Logistics is a general term, so is Hou(4) Qin(2).
