Can we use 傻人自有傻福 * for "FORTUNE favors fools"?

It sounds more colloquial in Chinese. However,
作者:He Zi - 1999/11/04 20:38:10

it seems to imply 聪明人也自有聪明人的福气, which thus doesn't convey the meaning of "favor".
That's why I didn't choose this translation. What do you think? Thanks.

Very interesting. I'm not sure, honestly.

You think "steady hand" is the reason for being able to hold a "full cup", while I thought
"full cup" is what makes the hand steady. Okey, let's wait for 谚语高手!

It does allow for nuances in interpretation.

Fullness makes a person appear steady and, in turn, steady appearance reflects a person's fullness. Essentially the proverb exposes the interrelationship between fullness and steadiness. So both "充实才能沉稳, 沉稳反映充实" and "手稳端得满杯茶" have conveyed the meaning of the proverb. Semantically speaking, however, you can read "手稳端得满杯茶" both ways and, incidentally, it faithfully transfers the graphic effect of the original.

I couldn't find the characters to input it on to this board !
In Cantonese, we say, "There is no such a big fat frog jumping on the street">
(-->i.e. you can catch these fat frogs and cook them for lunch/supper free of charge.)
