读书评译（５）
单其昌《汉英翻译技巧》（外语教学与研究出版社， １９９０）是
一本很好的翻译教科书。但也有一些错误，我将在《读书评译》的
下几部分提出来讨论。请看第８４－８５页的汉译英例释：
它还涉及到合法的组织形式、所有权的联合、物资的布局、设备的
设计，涉及到企业产品的分配、基本的调研、雇员名单、工会组织、
与外国政府与外国人民的关系等一系列职能方面的问题。
It extends to legal organizational forms; to ownership
affiliations; to the physical location and design of the
facilities; and to the entire functional spectrum ranging
from distribution of products to fundamental research,
payrolls, to labor-union organization, and to relations with
foreign governments and people.
评：英文是学生的练习，但编者没有指出其中的错误。“涉及到”可
译为to deal with, to involve。“物资的布局”译成physical
location，是该译文最大的错误，应是location of materials。另
外，“一系列职能方面的问题”，不仅包括“企业产品的分配......与
外国人民的关系”，而且也包括开头的“合法的组织形式”等。试译
如下：
It involves functions such as legal form of organization,
joint ownership, location of materials, equipment design,
product distribution, basic research, employee list, labor
union, relations with foreign governments and people, etc.
