Days back, somebody came up with a version "tunnel vision" for
I somehow have difficulty accepting it.
About "tunnel vision", my American friend told me like this:
Tunnel vision means "someone who can only see straight
ahead, as if looking down a tunnel (like a tunnel in the
mountain that trains go through)." Basically, if someone is
stubborn and sees only his opinion and nobody else's,
then we say he has "tunnel vision". 直筒子 may be closer in meaning.
But 井底之蛙 seems to have different nuances.
Here are some Japanese versions for 井底之蛙:
A frog in the well knows nothing of the big ocean;
People, who live in a small community, know nothing of the world.
English versions from "The Oxford Dictionary of English Proverbs"
(Compiled by William George Smith. Third Edition):
He that stays in the valley shall never get over the hill;
He that is in hell knows not what heaven is;
Homekeeping youths have ever homely wits;
They think calf a muckle beast that never saw a cow.

井蛙之见:a frog's vision from the bottom of a well

A well is mostly cylindrical and so is a tunnel, so...

A frog looking up from the bottom of a well is not much different from someone
looking down a tunnel except in the latter case this someone might get run over
by an incoming truck. Thus, the light at the end of a tunnel is not always a
good thing.:-)
At at rate, here is an excerpted from The American Heritage* Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition * 1996 by Houghton Mifflin Company. ( Bookshelf 98:Courtesy of Bill Gate's Monopolistic empire)
Tunnel Vision
1. Vision in which the visual field is severely constricted, as from within a tunnel looking out.
2. An extremely narrow point of view; narrow-mindedness.
I guess that is not much different from " the view of a frog from the bottom of a well."

imho,

imho, "tunnel vision" is an example.
1. a busy-body多嘴爱管闲事的人(不是“忙人”a busy man)
2. at the eleventh hour
3. what a shame!
4. to be taken in受骗(不是“被接纳”)
5. to pull up one's socks
6. to bring the house down全场喝彩(不是“把房子推倒”)
7. to think too much of oneself
8. to eat one's words
9. to draw up a plan
10. John is only too glad to let you go很乐意让你去是“太高兴了不肯让你去”)
11. one can't be too careful to do this kind of work做这种工作应该越小心越好(不是“……
12. the importance of productivity cannot be over-emphasized
13. to swim with the tide
14. to wash one's hands of...”
15. in the same boat”
