读书评译（１６）：“头和靠近头前部的地方”
《实用翻译教程》（上海外语教学出版社，１９９７）所引英文（４４７页）和汉译（３６７－３６８页）：
Most varieties of spiders have eight eyes. These are arranged on top and near the front of the head, usually in two rows of four each.
大多数种类的蜘蛛有八只眼睛，长在头和靠近头前部的地方，一般四只一行，排成两行。
评：又是“和”的问题。on top and near the front of the head是指两个部位，还是指一个部位？我觉得，and所连接的两个短语应该是互相补充说明的关系，就是说，前者先划出大概的位置“上部”，后者进一步说明“上部”的“靠近头前部”的位置。原汉译把on top and near the front of the head理解为两个位置，那样就把“头”的一部分“头前部”跟“头”分开，逻辑上也不同。可以译为“长在身体上部靠头前的地方”。
