经济能否软着陆的关键在于公司是否继续投资大量资金添置新设备和软件。最近几年，资本开支是经济增长的动力，不仅创造就业和高技术行业的创新，也带动生产率提高，并转化为高利润、高收入、股票价格猛涨和消费开支上升。现在，已经有迹象表明资本开支正在放缓，为整个经济煞车。

Economists believe: the key to a soft landing is whether companies will continue their investment in new equipment and software. In the last few years, capital expenditure is the driving force of the economy. It has created not only employment opportunities and high-tech innovations, but also higher productivity, which lead to larger profit margin, higher income, skyrocketing stock market, and increased consumer spending. Now the capital expenditure has shown signs of slowing down and bringing the economy to a grinding halt.
