“讲政治”、“讲质量”、“讲排场”、“讲文明”、“讲礼貌”… We should be concerned with national politics. They are only concerned with the politics. Quality is our main concern. They are just concerned with showing off. We are very concerned with civility in our work place.
“讲”，基本意思就是用嘴说。既是“说”得出来，必有所思、有所悟 ，或有所求，认为重要，要关心、强调。这样推论，英语说“讲”也就有一大堆可用了：to talk about, to mention, to discuss -> to be conscious of, to be concerned about -> to give priority to, to emphasize, to advocate，to promote ...etc. etc. 在这意义范畴内，根据褒贬感情需要，又可灵活选用更多的讲法,很多时候还要改变句子结构把意思表达得更好。比如“她爱讲排场”，说成 She enjoys a lavish life style. She indulges herself in lavishness. She likes to show off. 等等都未曾不可。过去曾有“阶级斗争天天讲，月月讲，年年讲”，哪怕说成 According to Mao, we must talk about class struggle every day, every month, every year. 又有何不妥？
