诸位知不知道下文的snaps作什么解释？我只猜出它和粤语的“湿碎”（小儿科）相当，不知当否？我手头上的词典均不敷应用啦！

Tony either refers to the family snapshots as in family photos, or
that he is making a low-key reference to his extensive collection of
paintings as "family snapshots".
Does this sound right to you ???

since all Tony has is but three masterpieces of art. And he wonders how much they can fetch for him, that's why he, a countryman, asked I(and his wife as well), a guy from London, to his own house.
By the way, I'm sorry for having not told you that the story happened in a country not far from London. And the author is Michael Frayn.
And I wonder if it's a British dialect of some sorts?
