Then and Now (in the tune of Caisangzi)
by Xin Qiji
When I was young,
I didn't know the taste of grief,
I loved to climb the storied tower;
I used to climb the storied tower,
To make new rhymes and in my songs
I pretended to feel the pain too.
Now that I know all the tastes of sorrow,
I must say, ... but no..;
I could say, ... but no..,
I shall just say:
“What a fine, chilly autumn day!”

Then and Now (in the tune of Caisangzi)
by Xin Qiji
When I was young,
I didn't know the taste of grief,
I loved to climb the storied tower;
I used to climb the storied tower,
To make new rhymes and in my songs
I pretended to be a sad flower.
Now that I know,
All the tastes of sorrow,
I must say, ... but no..;
I could say, ... but no..,
Feeling the chill, I just say:
“Oh, What a cool autumn day!”
Please note the last two lines. It's not just saying what a fine chilly autumn day. “chilly”itself is a kind of negative feeling. the original meaning could be: although I feel the chill, I'd just phrase it in positive terms as I “don't want to tell about my chilly feelings anymore after having tasted it all.” Here “cool” in “what a cool autumn day!” reflects the positive sense of “好个” in Chinese.
Hope you'll accept the correction, at least, for the last two lines.

The last two sentences:
Feeling the chill, I just say:
“oh, what a cool autumn day!”
best express the writer's thoughts“I don't want to tell about my chilly feelings anymore after having tasted it all”。

Enjoyable. Thanks. One may-not-be-right suggestion...

brisk, crisp?
Now that I know,
All the tastes of sorrow,
I must say, ... but no..;
I could say, ... but no..,
