Dear Sirs and Madams,
I am an Indian and my wife is Indonesian. We were walking down
the street one day with a group of friends composing of Russians,
Romanians, and Scandinavians, when I accidentally bumped into
an African American. I immediately apologized by saying "sorry you
dirty no good mother -------".
The guy, for no reason at all, became very angry and splat on my
face and said to all of us, "All you nians, and sians are no good.
You are all despicable people. No wonder you were called Indonesians,
Indians and Russians etc..."
Well, ladies and gentlemen, you can see how insulted I was and
how much I hurt inside. All our proud people were put down by the
way the English language describes us. Why do they have to use
this insulting suffix to describe our people ?
Every place I go, I see people with endings of -an (LIke Mexicans,
Americans, Koreans) and -ese (like Chinese, Portuguese), treated
with respect and adoration, but as soon as you mentioned that
you are Indian or Indonesian, you were look down upon.
Fellow countrymen (and women), it's time to demand a change
in the English vocabulary. Let us rid ourselves of this
hateful suffix of -ians. We should be called Indans and Indonesans.
This discriminating "i" must be taken out.
Make no mistake about it, this will be a long and arduous effort
and will require a lot of money. Therefore I appeal to all of you
to support this mighty effort by donating you hard earned,
after-tax dollar to this noble project.
Send as little as $5 and you will get a beautiful 2"x4" membership
card to the Get rid of "i" society .
For $50 , you also get a 1 year free membership in my
blindchauvanist society.
For $500, you get a beautifully hand painted 8"x10" certificate of
membership plus free membership in my friend, Mr.Hyde's
"flat earth society."
Don't wait. Every minute some nationals with an ending of -ian
is being verbally abused somewhere. Act now and sent the
money, by money order, visa, American Express or just
cold cash to
The Account of Dr.Jekyll
Swiss Bank of the Gullible.
Geneva,
Switzerland.
Thanks, and all power to you.

Supposedly you wrote this piece of satire in response to the earlier discussion revolving Sinian's proposal that the term Chinese be abolished. You suggest that he's either a Chauvinist or he's seeking financial gain. You can't be more wrong: he argued for equality, not superiority, and, although he did leave a contact address, without more evidence, you can't say he's in it for the money. Most participants in that discussion didn't agree with Sinian, but I think he's nontheless well-meaning, unlike you attack piece, which is mean-spirited and groundless.

If I offended anyone's sensibility, I apologize.
I merely intended to show the absurdity of the whole thing.
For all intent and purpose, Mr.S may be genuine or fake;
he may have a hidden agenda or he may not. The article
could be a hoax or someone doing a project on sociology
setting up an experiment to see what the response is.
My satire was meant to show that any one, including myself,
could easily write anything and put it on the net.

Sociologists (real ones, good ones) won't do a hoax like this.

Do appreciate your cocksureness. Dr. J's suggestion was too tentative, indeed!

See, the reason that so many fellows responded to the Sinaian's post, is that this post touched the sensitivity of Chinese. Chinese will take this seriously, no matter in what way they express it. So, at least, Chinese (or Chinese Americans, or whatever kind of Chinese) sociologists (or whatever kind of academic "ists" won't take this issue as a hoax, nor the Sinanian (could be a little bit "culturally deficiency" but should be with a good intention).
